Overview
The North American Neuroendocrine Tumor Society (NANETS) is pleased to invite you to attend the first Latin American NANETS virtual regional meeting, where medical professionals from North and South America will come together to share and learn about the treatment and management of neuroendocrine tumor disease.
This initiative is the result of three years of intense work guided by the Diversity and Membership Committee under the successive Chairmanships of Dr. Pamela Kunz, Yale University (2020), Dr. Camilo Jimenez, The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center (2021), Dr. Namrata Vijayvergia, Fox Chase Cancer Center (2022), and Dr. Bryson Katona, University of Pennsylvania (2023), and with the support of Dr. Jaydira del Rivero from the National Cancer Institute. This initiative was approved by the prior Presidents of the NANETS, Dr. Emily Bergsland, Stanford University (2021), and Dr. Jonathan Strosberg, University of South Florida H. Lee Moffit Cancer Center (2022), and is strongly supported by our newly elected President, Dr. Pamela Kunz.
The present program has been developed in collaboration with experts and representatives of four different countries in Latin America, including Dr. Juan Manuel O’Connor from the Alexander Fleming Institute in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Dr. Daniel Bulzico from the National Cancer Institute in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Dr. Paola Jimenez from the Center for Research and Treatment in Cancer "Luis Carlos Sarmiento Angulo FCTIC" in Bogota, Colombia, and Dr. Alan Burguete from the University of Nuevo Leon Cancer Center in Monterrey, Mexico.
Speakers from Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, Mexico, Puerto Rico, and the United States of America will discuss controversial aspects of a variety of treatment approaches for patients with neuroendocrine tumors. Dr. Thor Halfdanarson from the Mayo Clinic will deliver the Keynote address on “Precision Medicine in Neuroendocrine Tumors.” During this course, participants will learn how to diagnose and treat NETs, hear about ongoing research on neuroendocrine tumors, and have opportunities to hear perspectives from clinicians throughout the Americas. In addition to allowing the establishment of networking and collaborations, this meeting will be the first of many anticipated joint efforts between NANETS and Latin America.
Target Audience
This activity is designed for oncologists, gastroenterologists, pulmonologists, surgeons, radiologists, pathologists, primary care physicians, advanced practice nurses, nurses, physician assistants, pharmacists, fellows, students, and other allied health professionals involved with or interested in the treatment of patients with neuroendocrine tumors.
