Dr. Li earned his undergraduate degree from The Ohio State University in Columbus, OH, graduating summa cum laude. He then went on to receive his medical doctorate from Weill Cornell Medical College in New York, before pursuing an internship and residency in internal medicine at New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center. He then completed a hematology/oncology fellowship at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York City.    

Dr. Li is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology and the American Association for Cancer Research.  He serves on several national committees including the SWOG Gastrointestinal Cancer Committee and the Alliance Cancer in the Elderly Committee.

Dr. Li’s clinical and academic research is focused on the multidisciplinary approach to the treatment of patients with neuroendocrine tumors.  Working closely with his surgical colleagues at City of Hope, Dr. Li is helping to better define the role of surgical resection in patients with advanced neuroendocrine tumors. In addition, he works closely with basic scientists at City of Hope in the development of novel therapeutics for the treatment of patients with neuroendocrine tumors.
